How Kensington Food Co. Ensures Quality
Here at Kensington Food Company; there is nothing more Important than the Quality of our products. Below you will find detailed processes implemented by our Procurement Team to ensure all of our product categories meet the most strict and transparent regulations in the industry,
1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Each Extra Virgin Olive Oil we import goes through a 3 step process to confirm it is truly the product the producer claims it is.
- Before the olive oil leaves the producers facility, we require a Certified Chemical Analysis Report to ensure the olive oil meets the standards set by the IOC and NAOOC with regards to key quality indicators like Acidity and Fatty Acids.
- When the product arrives in our warehouse, our In-House Certified Olive Oil Sommelier performs a Sensory Analysis on the Olive Oil to ensure it is Free of Defects and passes as a True Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our Sommelier also awards the olive oil a score and notes using an official IOC Judges Sheet. These sheets are made available for our client to view and learn from.
- We then send the product to a 3rd Party Impartial Lab in New Orleans to acquire our own Chemical Analysis Report so we can ensure it matches the report given to our by the producer.
- Beyond the above Quality Control Policies and Processes, we also physically visit our producers farms no less than every 3 years. This give us the opportunity to ensure their cleanliness, quality control, technically advancements and sustainability remains in line with current industry best practices. We are truly the direct bridge between you and the producer, there are no middle men. When you buy from Kensington Food Company; you are buying from the source.
2. Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Unlike many of our competitors, the base Olive Oil used in our Infused products is 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Other companies utilize a "pure olive oil" or a blend. They try to justify this decision by saying the strong characteristics of EVOO are too strong for Flavored Oils. That is BOGUS. The decision to choose a "pure" Olive Oil or Blend is made simply to save money and nothing else.
When selecting our base EVOO for our Infused Olive Oils, we select only Extra Virgin Olive Oils with a DELICATE profile. This means the Olive Oil is still 100% Extra Virgin, still has ZERO defects but has very low pungency and bitterness. Instead, it's premium characteristics are defined by its floral/grass aroma and "Juicy" fresh taste. At Kensington Food Company, we believe you should not have to sacrifice on health and quality just because the product is Infused.
3. Balsamic Vinegar
Each and every Balsamic Vinegar product we offer is produced in Modena, Italy. ALL of our Balsamic Vinegars include:
- ZERO Artificial Additives
- ZERO Colorants
- ZERO Thickening Agents
- ZERO Preservatives
- ZERO Added Sulfites
At Kensington Food Company, we also have our very own In-House Certified Balsamic Analyst who is not only trained on sensory quality control testing but also equipped with experience and knowledge on density, acidity, BRIX and production practices. This knowledge is shared with all of our Clients so you can in turn help us in educating the general public.
